Pain Management Program (Interventional and Pharmacological):
Our pain management program is grounded in teamwork and focused on locating and ameliorating the patient’s physical sensation of pain. It is designed for moderate, severe and complex cases in which conventional and/or conservative treatment methods have failed to provide patients with any improvement.
Staffed by a team of pain specialists, each patient’s case is carefully evaluated and directed to the physicians who will best handle his or her needs. Our neurologists, physiatrists (rehabilitation doctors), anesthesiologists and psychiatrists may conduct further evaluations or participate in treatment as required.
Adjunctive services, such as physical therapy/physiotherapy, chiropractic care, biofeedback, and acupuncture may be incorporated into the treatment plan. In many cases, our team will find that altering a conservative treatment program with selective spinal blocks, facet injections, or medication changes can decrease a patient’s dependency on narcotic medication and allow greater functional activity.
However, if it is determined that an aggressive treatment program is needed, we can administer the spinal cord stimulation (SCS) or intraspinal drug delivery (IDD), which have proven to be beneficial in eliminating intractable pain. Our family of physicians and neurologists are determined to provide patients with the best medical equipment and service that any healthcare facility has to offer.
Our goal of the pain management program is to uncover the cause of pain and treat it efficiently and economically. We will devote our efforts to reduce disability while returning patients to their normal activities in a swift manner. Another goal of the pain management program resides on decreasing patient’s dependency on pain medications and the need for repetitive office visit. Our physicians have continuously met these goals and treated countless spinal injuries and ailments on a daily basis, such as:
